Blake Bryant

Blake Bryant, is a sophomore Mechanical Engineering student at the University of Maryland. His favorite engineering project was from his senior year of high school, in which he and his friend developed a "Spiderman Suit" by creating two suction panels from plywood and rubber, then connecting them to 2 space-vacuum cleaners. He was able to climb up a wall, and their project won a "Fan-Favorite STEM Project" award. He has worked as a Mentor for College Freshmen, a Calculus Tutor, a Club Sports Supervisor, and a Youth Sports Instructor, amongst many other prior roles. He is also a part of the Black Engineers Society on UMD's campus, in which he is the Public Relations Chair. Additionally, he is also a self-taught barber (w/ 3 years of experience) and currently cut hair out of his dorm room as well as his house back home. He is the co-CEO of an apparel line that produces backpacks based on hand-drawn designs. He is very passionate about those three roles because they are his most prominent avenues that encourage him to express his creativity, meet new people, and put smiles on faces. Outside of school and organizations, he loves to play video games, draw, eat, and watch sports. These passions, on top of being a part of the Club Flag Football team at Maryland and playing in intramural sports, spanning from basketball to volleyball to soccer, gives him the time he needs to decompress.
